Hypoallergenic Food for Dogs

Dr. Lera talks about hypoallergenic food with Sunny, a one-year-old Pit Bull.

The answer to your dog’s allergy may lie in hypoallergenic food – food for dogs allergic to normal food. It’s made from a long list of wholesome and nutritious ingredients that you don’t always find in your standard bag. There isn’t a definitive list of things you can or can’t include in this type of dog food, but it’s generally void of any preservatives, chemicals or artificial colors. Hypoallergenic dog food is all about eliminating the risk of allergies and intolerances. It uses unique proteins that aren’t recognised by your dog’s antibodies as being antigens, eliminating – or at least minimizing – the risk of your dog suffering from an allergy. (source: becopets.com)

  1. I got ProPlan HA prescribed for my lab. The vet said that if the food is well tolerated, then my dog would have to eat it for the rest of its life and absolutely nothing else. I find questionable whether my dog could survive on corn and soy as ingredients…

  2. I’d rather spend money on food than medication. My golden doodle is allergic to everything on Earth. Had him blood tested and he’s on Ultamino now. A bunch of money and still having fungus crusts on his legs. Is there any worth to vet. Science or just another business? 🤔☹️😢
